Screen Shot 2014-10-05 at 6.35.14 PMThe Orange Players Present: A Singer’s Workshop with Gary Harger at the High Plains Community Center, 525 Orange Center Road, on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.

The workshop shall begin with a brief discussion and demonstration of proper vocal technique, followed by a group warm-up, and perhaps even a group song. Interested participants should prepare a song or audition piece of moderate length, and have either the sheet music or a track available.

There also is the option of singing a capella. There are no age-limits or experience levels required, as it is NOT a singing contest or talent competition.  Some attendees may simply wish to “audit” and observe the class — no one is forced to get up and sing!

Emphasis will be on musicality, diction, vocalism, and performance values. All comments and critiques are given in a forthright, supportive, and constructive fashion, and questions are most welcome.

Interested participants should contact garyharger@cs.com.

Gary Harger

Gary Harger

Gary Harger and Art Belucci, both well-known performers and musicians in the area, will be joined by some friends in a benefit performance for the Orange Arts and Culture Council on Friday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Milford Art Center’s Eastbound Theatre. (40 North Railroad Avenue, Milford).

Gary Harger has performed on the Broadway stage, has been on several national show tours, has appeared n regional theatres, has sung in opera companies and in countless concert and cabaret performances. He also now is a voice teacher in Orange. Art Belucci has taught and performed in the area for years and also wrote the score for a musical that was performed Off-Broadway.

The OACC is proud to announce the performance of “Just for Old Times’ Sake”, a musical evening of Broadway, Movie and Popular Music. It promises to be a most enjoyable evening, with familiar and not s familiar songs interspersed with reminisces about Gary’s 40 plus years on the road. He has some amusing anecdotes to share and offers his perspective on “the business.” Light refreshments will be served.

Tickets are $15.00 and can be bought from OACC Board members or reserved by calling 203-397-8915. Ticket sales will support the OACC’s efforts to promote the arts in our area.

The OACC is a non-profit group organized in 2006 and dedicated to sustaining and promoting the arts in our town and our region. A long-range goal is the conversion of a part of the Clark Building into an exhibition/performing space. Some of the recent projects of the OACC include the outfitting of The Gallery at Town Hall that features the work of local artists, and the “Hop the Bus” project that provides free transportation to the New Haven Symphony concerts, eliminating the hassle of finding convenient parking in New Haven.

Show your support of the efforts of the OACC by attending this event. All proceeds will go to the OACC and will contribute to the goal of enlivening the arts scene of our town. To top it off—it sounds like a rousing good time.
