Marion F. George, 82, of Stratford, the beloved wife of the late Anthony George, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 2, 2018.

Born in Bridgeport on Feb. 2, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Agrella. Marion retired from the City of Bridgeport Fire Department where she worked as an emergency dispatcher.

Marion is survived by her two daughters; Denise (Mittens) George and Lisa (Frank) Mastro, of Stratford, one granddaughter, Melissa (Ralph) Marguy and her great-grandchildren; Stella and Archer of Orange.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, October 6, 2018 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY in St. Margaret’s Shrine, 2523 Park Ave. Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Michel Cemetery, Stratford.

There will be no night calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Connecticut Hospice, Inc. 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford CT, 06405, in memory of Marion.

Screen Shot 2014-12-06 at 10.33.19 PMOlga Halchak Chirgwin, 93, of Orange, beloved wife of the late Harry J. Chirgwin, died peacefully on December 2, 2014 at Yale New Haven Hospital with family by her side.

She was born April 12, 1921 in Ansonia, daughter of the late Ignatius and Anna Groziak Halchak.

Mrs. Chirgwin was a graduate of Ansonia High School and worked as a secretary for Southern Connecticut State University.

A lifelong and devout member of Three Saints Orthodox Church where she was a past Board Member, taught Sunday school, was active in the “R” Club and Senior Group.

In younger years, Mrs. Chirgwin shared many happy memories with her daughter as a Girl Scout Leader.

An avid painter of portraits and landscapes, she was a founding member of the Orange Arts & Crafts Guild.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Lynn Hvizd and her husband, Andrew Hvizd, III of Wallingford; grandson, Andrew J. (Jordon) Hvizd of Ontario, Canada; granddaughter, Sarah (Anthony) Sigel of Northford; great-grandchildren, Anthony Sigel, Jr., Jack Sigel (with whom shared Great-Grandma’s birthday), and Rylee Paige Hvizd; special caregiver and friend for many years, Melanie Grecula; and her best friend, Ruth Balnicki.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, she was predeceased by brother, William Halchak.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Ave., Ansonia.

Family and friends may call at 10 a.m. directly at church, prior to service.

Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Memorial Contributions may be made to Three Saints Church Maintenance Trust.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Jeffrey Keegan and wife Cindy, Orange, CT, Paula McFarland and husband Bruce, Yorktown, IN; Henry Keegan, and wife Melody, Vestal, NY, Carolyn DeBusk and husband Charles, Palmyra, VA. Fifteen grandchildren, David Keegan, Kathryn (Keegan) Culbertson and husband Ryan, Christine Keegan, Carolyn Keegan, Rebecca (McFarland) Adeney and husband Joel, Ruth McFarland, Sarah McFarland, Paul McFarland and wife Sarah, Peter McFarland, Anna McFarland, Julie (Keegan) Strosser and husband Ryan, Amy (Keegan) Cannon and husband Andrew, Thomas Keegan and wife Margaret, Laura DeBusk, Katherine DeBusk. Two great-grandchildren Barnabas Adeney and Tabitha Adeney.

Delores was a beautiful Christian woman who loved her God and her family and with quiet humility served them both. She faithfully served at Memorial Park Baptist Church in many capacities through the Missions Committee, the Ladies Missionary Circle and various ministries. She was actively involved with the Christian Women’s Club.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2014, 11AM at Memorial Park Baptist Church, 1013 Front St., Vestal, NY, with Pastor Marlene Steenburg officiating.

Friends may call at the church prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.

She was the beloved wife of 62 years to the late Eugene A. Witheril, and is survived by her loving children, Linda Kasowitz and her husband Marvin of West Haven, Patrick Witheril and his wife Denise of Guilford and Peggy Choiniere and her husband Ed of Bethany, grandchildren, Kate Kasowitz and her husband Frank McCarty, Allison Romanoff and her husband John, Jill Kasowitz, Meghan Witheril, Stefanie Benoit and her husband Joseph, Sydney Witheril, Matthew & Timothy Eckman, EJ, Cherilyn, Billy, Michael, and Joey Choiniere.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Grace McCarty, Charlotte Romanoff, Amelie Choiniere, Luke Benoit, and Ella Witheril, and lifelong best friends Joanne & Dick Westphal of FL and her puppy Daisy.

Loving sister of Billy Buetow of Pollack Pines, CA, and Mitzi Slater of Stewart, FL.

Mrs. Witheril was predeceased by her infant son Gerald Witheril, and 2 brothers George Straube and Tommy Buetow.

Zeata was born in Racine, WI, Oct. 23, 1932 a daughter of the late George Straube and Maxine Buetow and had resided in Hamden for many years.

She was employed by the Thompson Agency of Farmington and the Monarch Insurance Agency of Orange prior to her retirement.

Zeata will be remembered for her ageless beauty, her radiant smile, her kind heart and her ability to light up any room she entered. She found unending joy in loving her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed but cherished memories of her will last forever.

Interment service in Beaverdale Memorial Park will be private.

Screen shot 2014-03-22 at 7.18.34 PMIrene Vargo Betlinski, 85, of Orange, beloved wife of the late Leon Betlinski, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Bridgeport on May 24, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Jennie Jakubik Vargo.

Irene was a secretary at Prudential Insurance Co. in Bridgeport for many years before she devoted many years to the loving care of her family. She was a former parishioner of St. Agnes Church in Woodmont.

Irene was an avid fan and enjoyed watching the N.Y. Yankees where she could be heard yelling at the TV.

She cherished the time she spent playing cards and board games with her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Laura Betlinski Albert. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Eberts of Trumbull, a son, Michael Betlinski and his wife Lisa of CA, a brother, Andrew Vargo and his wife Joan of Orange, two sisters, Margaret Vargo and Jennie Vargo both of Bridgeport, seven grandchildren, Michael DiLella, Joseph DiLella and his fiancé Jennifer, Nicholas Eberts and his wife Christy, Brian Eberts, Mary Eberts Thornton and her husband Brian, Alex Betlinski and Christine Betlinski, nine great grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas, Eden, Adam, Adrianna, Anthony, Ella, Alexandra and Michael as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Sienna Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.

Wife of the late Frank A. Belbusti. Beloved mother of Frank (Jill) Belbusti and George (Gina) Belbusti all of Orange and the late Lynne Belbusti. Loving grandmother of Heather Aportria, Anthony, Lucia and Frank Belbusti, III.

Daughter of the late Howard and Lena Lavorgna Spragg. Sister of Judy Spragg of Orange and the late Barbara Belbusti and Jacqueline Spragg. Also survived by 4 great grandchildren.

Patty was widely recognized for her comforting style and her ability to calm those in need. She was a paraprofessional teacher of primary special needs children in the West Haven Schools for 40 years. She was an active fund raiser for the West Haven Seth Haley Scholarship Fund. She also served as a PTA President in the West Haven School System.

As a regular traveler, she enjoyed New England, Canada, and Italy. Her most memorable trip was a 6 week RV Tour of the U.S.A.

She attended and enjoyed frequent Italian American Club dances. She had close association with her nieces Gina Belbusti Bohan, Kim Belbusti Zabilowski, and Gail Belmont Harwood and her nephews Jim Belmont, Kyle and Randy Coppola.

Friends may call at Porto Funeral Home, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven, Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM.


Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home Thursday morning at 10:15 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church (Center Rd.) at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

ObituaryAllene Robinson Small, 84, of Orange, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on August 22, 2013.

She was the wife of the late Odie Small and beloved mother of Charles Small of Bethany, Richard Small and his wife, Pat of Orange; and Scott Small and his wife, Diane of North Branford; and sister of Jack Robinson of Pennsylvania.

Allene was blessed with eight grandchildren, Erik (Sarah) Small, Jason (Anna-Maria) Small, Scott Small, Jennifer (Sean) McCulloch, Tiffany (Adam) Arsenault, Stephanie (Dean) Alderman, Christopher (Maria) Small and Sharon Small; and 13 great-grandchildren, Luna, Carter, Noelle, Eliza, Liam, Harlen, Silas, Scarlet, Oakleigh, Cooper, Mason, Quentin and Topher.

Allene also leaves her longtime friend, companion and love, Ed Connolly, who is greatly appreciated by her family for always taking such good care of her.

Allene was born on Oct. 1, 1928, attending Garfield High School (Ohio), Akron University and Southern Connecticut State University, earning two master’s degrees in education. She enjoyed her job at Martin Luther King Jr. School in New Haven where she taught for more than 40 years. She loved her family and traveling, especially to her favorite places – the Cape and Vermont.

In addition to her late husband, Allene was predeceased by her mother, Mabel D. Robinson; her father, Clarence W. Robinson and her sister, Suella R. Prentice.

A Celebration of Allene’s life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at 9 Hoadley Rd., Branford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the 2013 Closer to Free Ride for Smilow Cancer Hospital (https://rideclosertofree.org). Maureen Raucci will honor Allene by displaying her name on her team’s banner.

She was born on May 23rd 1915 in Browington, VT, daughter of the late Delmar H. and Edith A. Kellogg Bennett.
Mildred graduated from Westfield High School in 1933 and was employed as a housemother at Westfield State College. She also worked as a nurses aide at Noble Hospital, a waitress at Tekoa Country Club and as a welder at Columbia Mfg. during WWII.
Mildred enjoyed gardening square dancing, cooking, baking and taking care of people. She leaves her husband Harvey S. Buckland, two sons, Gary W. Sell of Orange, CT and Glen E. Sell of Westfield and a daughter Mary Moore of Springfield, VT., a sister Vivien G. Butler of Westfield, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son Guy H. Sell and by her first husband Elliot Janellier and her second husband Walter Sell and two brothers Earl and Art Bennett.
The funeral will be Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11:30 AM from Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 12:30 PM with burial to follow in the Mass Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 2 PM.
Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
