During my daily walks at the Orange Fairgrounds, I’ve noticed many people admiring, utilizing and appreciating the new three-tiered water fountain near that pavilion. For the first time today I even saw a dog taking advantage of it.
The sad thing is, so many residents may like it, but they think it’s a town sponsored thing and had no idea who is really responsible for it being there.
Well, I knew, and told a few fellow walkers, but for everyone else, here’s what you need to know, submitted by Marianne Miller from the Orange Lions Club:
The Orange Lions Club is proud to dedicate this beautiful water fountain to the “TOWN OF ORANGE!” Please join us on Saturday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m. The fountain is next to the pavilion at High Plains Community Center. It has three levels, the top fountain for adults, the second level for children and wheel-chaired individuals, and the bottom one for our furry friends.
This year is “Lions International” 100th-year celebration. Upon the suggestion of Lion Ken Lenz, the Orange Lions unanimously agreed to the idea. He moved forward bringing the project to the town for approval.
Thank you to Lion Ken Lenz for spear-heading the wonderful fountain project and to Lion Ron Ruotolo for his expertise and guidance during the installation of the fountain. Thank you to our hard-working Lions who helped in any way, especially digging the trench! This will continue to be an asset to many for years to come.
Join us on Saturday for the dedication. The first 50 people will receive a Centennial celebration purple and gold water bottle to fill up at the fountain and to remember, “WHERE THERE IS A NEED, THERE IS A LION!”
