At 10:07 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, Orange police on a traffic detail observed a vehicle traveling on the Boston Post Road.  A check of the vehicle showed it to be stolen out of New Haven. 

Officers stopped the car and questioned the driver, James H. Curtis, 29, of New Haven. 

Subsequently, he was taken into custody and charged with third-degree larceny and improper use of a marker plate.

Curtis was released on a promise to appear in court on March 1.

Orange police responded to a report of an erratic driver traveling in the wrong lane on Old Tavern Road on June 10 at 6:38 p.m.

Officers stopped the car near Drummond Road and during the investigation, they reportedly detected the odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver’s breath.

Lee Porcu, 37, of New Haven was administered standardized field sobriety tests and he was subsequently taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading responsibility, failure to drive in a proper lane and following too close.

 

Porcu was released on a $50 cash bond for court June 26.

Police Blotter Logo thx DaveOrange police served a warrant against a New Haven man on July 15 at 10:20 a.m.

According to the report, officers learned that Mark Moreau, 32, of 85 Beers St 2nd floor, was detained at the Meriden Courthouse on an unrelated matter.

Orange police brought Moreau back to headquarters to be served with an arrest warrant.

The warrant stemmed from two incidents where he reportedly wrote checks to pay for merchandise at the Ocean State Job Lot store. Both checks were returned by the bank due to insufficient funding.

Moreau was charged with two counts of issuing a bad check and sixth-degree larceny. 

He was held on bond for court July 16.

Patrol officers observed a vehicle drive into the parking area of a business on the Boston Post Road that was closed at 3:34 a.m. on Oct. 5.

Upon stopping the vehicle, police administered standardized roadside sobriety tests on the driver, Paco Garcia, 27, of 14 Fox St., New Haven.

Garcia was subsequently taken into custody and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, drinking while driving and driving without a license.

He was released after posting $50 bond for court Oct. 20.

Police were dispatched to the Wendy’s Restaurant, 15 Boston Post Road on a domestic violence complaint April 26 at 9:12 p.m.

According to the police report, during the investigation officers learned that Frederick Buzzell, 30, of 210 Alden Avenue, New Haven, had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend over her cell phone, which resulted in him allegedly striking and choking her, then leaving the restaurant with the phone.

Officers located Buzzell a short distance away. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with third-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, second-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree breach of peace, sixth-degree larceny, and possession of marijuana.

He was held on $7,500 bond for court April 28.

Police Blotter Logo thx DaveOfficers responded to the parking lot of the AC Moore store, 220 Indian River Road, on a report of a disturbance on March 16 at 2:02 p.m. 

Upon arrival, officers learned that Darius Fullwood, 45, of 46 Jackson Lane, New Haven had gotten into an argument with a pregnant female, and that the argument turned physical.

The victim in this case also has a protective order against the arrestee, and the entire incident occurred in the presence of a three year old child.

Fullwood was charged with third-degree assault on a pregnant person, third-degree strangulation, second-degree breach of peace and criminal violation of a protective order.

He was held on $50,000 bond for court March 17.

Officers on routine patrol reportedly observed a vehicle driving erratically on the Boston Post Road (eastbound) on March 7 at 1:02 a.m.

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers administered standardized roadside sobriety tests on Robert Bell, 35, of 387 New Hall Street, New Haven.

He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and failure to drive in a proper lane.

Bell was released after posting $100 bond for court March 21.
