Just before 9 p.m., members of the Orange Volunteer Fire Department were on the scene of a very active house fire at 467 Ridgeview Road.

Word is that it was a real inferno.

The Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Department covered the town of Orange while our firefighters battled the blaze.

Stay clear of the area if you can and let them do their jobs. — The area is roped off.

NEVER run over fire hoses laid out in the road.

By 9:10 p.m. it appeared that the fire was knocked down, but the smoke was still visible from the Ranch-style home.

Neighbors said the whole area of the home where the bedroom once was is gone, and they were relieved to see their neighbor walking around unharmed. Click HERE for an unedited video shot by a neighbor.

We will have more information after we talk to the Fire Marshal.

The Orange Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire at 612 Chestnut Ridge Road Wednesday morning at around 3:30 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, the house was fully involved and the sole occupant was outside in the backyard.

A live power line was down in the front yard, and crews had to wait for the UI to cut the power before they could begin their assault.

Below-freezing temperatures complicated the operation, as you can imagine, turning everything to ice.

But, they are trained for all kinds of situations and used these skills to put the fire out. Woodbridge and West Haven fire departments were called to assist.

Just one week before Christmas, the house reportedly is a total loss.

Two people, a driver and passenger exited their car after “smelling something,” and realizing something was wrong.

According to Fire Chief Charlie Gagel, they pulled over on Orange Center Road (in the area of Lincoln Road) and the two got out of the car, then discovered something was burning in the glove box area.

Firefighters arrived within minutes and the car was fully engulfed.

The flames were extinguished and all that remained was the charred metal of the vehicle, tires melted, paint burned off.

Thank goodness no one was hurt.
