Many of us have been directly affected by suicide, some of us are survivors of a suicide attempt, and just about all of us have known or known of someone who has tried or succeeded in committing suicide.

In 2018, suicide is still a hugely taboo subject, and this makes it incredibly difficult for people dealing with depression, bipolar disorder, and suicidal thoughts and feelings to express themselves to others for fear of being shamed. Let’s work together to end the stigma of depression and suicide and spread awareness across the world.

Jim Hassenmayer, the owner of the Orange Ale House, has been thinking about and wanting to do this event for a while. Now, he has announced a date for the “Every 40 Seconds” Suicide Prevention Fundraising Event.

The Orange Ale House will host this event on Saturday, September 8 from 4 – 11 p.m.

Tickets are $30 and will include food and a drink ticket.

The next day is the start of National Suicide Prevention Week. Jim and the Ale House will be raising funds for The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Southern Connecticut chapter.

He said, “We will have a memory wall, where one can post a photo, poem or any other memory they choose of a friend or loved one.”

Hassenmayer added, “We still need a few volunteers to help out. And if anyone can help us source some Raffle/Silent auction prizes, contact any of us or call Orange Ale House at 203-795-0707 or e-mail: info@orangealehouse.com.”
