The Orange Foundation has awarded its community grants to the following local organizations:

  • $3,000 to Orange Food2Kids which supplies food to those Orange elementary school students who would benefit from bringing home food for the weekend.
  • $2,000 to Camp Cedarcrest to upgrade the kitchen in the main cabin.
  • $1,000 to the Orange Historical Society to replace the sign at the Academy Building.
  • $582 to the Orange Senior Center to subsidize the cost of their annual holiday party.
  • $1,500 to the Amity Teen Center to partially fund the cost of their intern that assists the community.
  • $2,500 to the Orange Parks & Recreation department towards the purchase of a leg press machine at the High Plains Community Center.
  • $3,400 to American Legion Post 127 towards the renovation of the ladies’ restroom.
  • $1,300 to the Orange Arts and Culture Center to subsidize the cost of the Hop the Bus program which provides bus transportation to cultural events in New Haven.

Scholarship awards will be announced next week.

The Orange Foundation is accepting Applications for grants to be distributed in the spring of 2018. Funding is available for projects benefiting the residents of Orange

Those eligible for grants include non-profit organizations, parent-teacher organizations and service organizations.

According to Distribution Committee Member and Chair of Grant Distribution, Janice Lettick, “Since it began giving out grants, the Foundations has distributed more than $170,700 to various local civic and community organizations.”

The grants range in size from $500 to $6,234. Past recipients include Amity Teen Center; Camp Cedarcrest; Case Memorial Library; Orange Senior Services; and Silberbrook Estates.

“We encourage Orange community organizations to apply for funding to support their activities,” Lettick said.

The deadline for applications is April 30, 2018. Applications are available online at www.orangefounation.org. and at the Orange Town Hall. Completed applications should be mailed to the Orange Foundation, P.O Box 729, Orange, CT 06477-0729.
