Many residents are pleased with the news that the Orange Recycling Committee has arranged for a new textile recycling pick-up service that will begin on July 15.
Orange Live reached out to Recycling Committee Chairman Mitch Goldblatt for some answers.
Here’s what he had to say:
1) This is a way for people to continue to recycle products simply to help the environment. That in itself should be good enough! But there is more!
2) Items will be re-sold or re-used to decrease our carbon footprint of producing more and also creates jobs.
3) For every ton collected in the pink bags, the town receives $20.
4) For every ton diverted from our transfer station solid waste, the town saves about $100.
“This is a win-win for everyone,” he said.
Also, as a follow-up, many want to know exactly what is acceptable. Here you go:

- Women’s Clothing
- Children’s Clothing
- Coats and Jackets
- Sleeping Bags
