The 2017 Living Treasure Award Ceremony will take place on Friday, May 5 at the Pssta Festa! Supper from 5-8 p.m.

Nominations are being accepted through March 11.

Three individuals will be chosen for the honor.

Here are some guidelines for your nominations:

• The Nominee is a current resident and at least 65 years of age

• The nominee has demonstrated positive actions to improve the quality of life for individual residents

• The nominee has contributed and continues to contribute time to enhance the Orange community as a whole

• The nominee performed this work on a volunteer, unpaid basis.

Some of those who have been honored in the past are Bob Drobish, Mary Jewell, Doc Whitney and Dorothy Berger Margaret Howland, Walter Bespuda, Bob Archambault, Hannah Clark Russell, Mary DeVito, Harry Jones, Lucy Scillia, Dr. Edmund Tucker, Albert “Skip” Clark, Bob DeFeo, Kevin Gilbert, Jack Barton, and Veronica Hendricks.

Also, Joseph Blake, Nancy Nyhan, Severio “Bob” Fodero, Joe Cuzzocreo, Nancy Becque, Don Lewis, Patricia Miller, and James White, Al Pol, Kevin Hadlock and Netti Bartocetti.

Submit your nomination on an official form (available at the Senior Services office and Town Hall) and follow all instructions:

Please be specific and detailed in your answers to the following questions. Use additional pages if needed and please write clearly or type.

    1. How has the nominee’s service enhanced the lives of Orange residents?
    2. How has the nominee’s service improved the community?

Screen shot 2014-03-28 at 9.48.08 PMThe 2014 Pasta Festa! Dinner will take place at St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church Hall, 480 Racebrook Road on Friday, May 9 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The pasta and meatballs will be catered by Cusano’s. Members of the Board of Selectmen will be on hand to help serve the meal.

The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of this year’s Living Treasure Awards to three deserving Orange residents: Emma Cuzzocreo, Donald Lewis, and Elmer Manley.

Winners of the raffle will go home with some great prizes donated by individuals and local businesses.

Tables of 8 to 10 are available. If you wish to be seated with particular people, payment for the group must be made at the same time. Otherwise there is no guarantee that you will be sitting together.

Call the Senior Center at 203-891-4784 if you would like to donate a prize for the raffle. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, April 1 at $20 per person.

Every year residents nominate deserving community minded senior citizens to be added to the list of Living Treasures from past years at the Orange Senior Center Pasta Festa! Supper.

The Orange Community Services Department presents the awards to one or more residents who enhance the lives of others through their volunteer service.

Eligibility requirements are:

• The nominee must be a current resident who is at least 65 years of age.

• The nominee must have demonstrated positive actions to improve the quality of life for individual residents.

• The nominee must have contributed and continues to contribute time to enhance the Orange community as a whole.

• The nominee must have performed this work on a volunteer, unpaid, basis.

Fill out both sides of the form and return to Senior Services Coordinator Dennis Marsh by Friday, March 14.

Nominations for the 2014 Living Treasure Awards are being accepted through March 7, 2014.

Nomination forms are available in the Orange Community Services Office, Town Hall and can be printed from the town website, the Senior website, or the Senior Center Facebook Page.

Nominees must be current Orange residents and at least 65 years of age. As a volunteer, he or she must have demonstrated positive actions to improve the quality of life for individual residents or enhanced the Orange community

The three chosen individuals will be honored at the Senior Center’s Pasta Festa! at St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church on May 9, 2014.

The 2013 honorees were Nancy Becque, Patricia Miller and James White.
