Orange residents- did you know your mail carrier will be collecting non-perishable food as part of the Stamp Out Hunger food drive this Saturday, May 12?

If you have some non-perishable food that you can spare, please leave it by your mailbox this Saturday prior to your mail delivery.

Your carrier will collect it while on his or her route, and all donations help local residents in need.

Thank You For Your Generosity!

Last weekend the US Postal Service held its annual spring food drive, and Orange residents responded in a big way.

Residents received a postcard in the mail at the beginning of the week asking that they leave a bag of non-perishable food items that would go to the local food bank, near their mailbox on Saturday and the response was tremendous.

The locally collected food was transported directly to the High Plains Community Center and placed in the former probate office until it can be sorted and stored in the Community Services Food Closet.

Community Services Director Joan Cretella said, “A big thank you goes out to the postal workers and everyone that so generously donated to the food bank.”

The amount of food they received will definitely help those in need in the town of Orange.

Even though the food closet will be well stocked after the postal drive, it’s important to remember that Community Services graciously accepts donations throughout the year, not just during this drive or at the holidays.

“Thank You so much,” Cretella said.
