The Orange Town Hall Offices are now Open with a strict new set of rules.

Anyone entering the building:

• MUST be wearing a mask.

• Wait outside the office doorway until he or she is asked to come in.

• Follow all state COVID-19 safety guidelines (social distancing).

Please respect the town employees and help to keep them safe in their workplace.

The Offices at High Plains Community Center also are open, with personnel on hand to answer phones, but there still are no activities at the Senior Center or Rec Department.

Please call in advance if you have any questions.

 

Orange Foundation Announces Grant Recipients

The Orange Foundation has awarded its community grants to the following local organizations:

  • $3,000 to Orange Food2Kids which supplies food to those Orange elementary school students who would benefit from bringing home food for the weekend.
  • $2,000 to Camp Cedarcrest to upgrade the kitchen in the main cabin.
  • $1,000 to the Orange Historical Society to replace the sign at the Academy Building.
  • $582 to the Orange Senior Center to subsidize the cost of their annual holiday party.
  • $1,500 to the Amity Teen Center to partially fund the cost of their intern that assists the community.
  • $2,500 to the Orange Parks & Recreation department towards the purchase of a leg press machine at the High Plains Community Center.
  • $3,400 to American Legion Post 127 towards the renovation of the ladies’ restroom.
  • $1,300 to the Orange Arts and Culture Center to subsidize the cost of the Hop the Bus program which provides bus transportation to cultural events in New Haven.

Scholarship awards will be announced next week.

Now is the time to get your tickets for the Living Treasure Award ceremony.

Each year the Orange Senior Center recognizes three Orange senior residents who have given so much of themselves and their time to the Orange community.

This year three deserving residents: Suzanne Anderson, Ann Losh, and Fred Turner, have been chosen.

They will be honored at the Living Treasure Award Ceremony at Race Brook Country Club in Orange on May 4, 2018.

Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased at the Orange Senior Center in the High Plains Community Center, 525 Orange Center Road, Orange.

Make checks out to “Treasurer – Town of Orange.”

This year’s Senior Summer Cookout will be held in the High Plains Pavilion on Monday, Aug. 10 with a rain date of Tuesday, Aug 11 from 5 to 8 pm.

John Paolillo with Kickback Duo will perform, so put on your dancing shoes.

Members of the Orange Lions Club will be cooking and serving guests.

Tickets are still only $15 and available at the Community Services office at High Plains Community Center.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Orange Senior Center will host a special program at the Orange Community Center on Friday, May 1 at 2 p.m. to honor the men and women who have served our country.

The extensive program will include a scrolling frame picturing living town veterans, and will honor the six different branches of service.

Organizers are still hoping for more veterans to come forward to be recognized for their service.

Teen Tech Talk brings Amity Teens to the Senior Center to teach seniors how to use their iPhones, iPads, and laptops.

Sessions will be held on the second Tuesday of the month.

Plan to drop by next Tuesday, February 10 at 4 p.m. in the Senior Lounge.

Come and enjoy a very special free concert with the Shelton division of the United Girls Choir.

If you have ever seen them perform then you know how fabulous they are.

Maria Biondi of the OVNA will provide Coffee and dessert 5:30 – 6 p.m.

The girls will sing from 6 – 7 p.m.
