It was a long but happy ride home Monday night for the Amity girls’ swim team. The Lady Spartans had to journey up to Middletown to take on Mercy and they came back home with a 91-80 victory over the Tigers in a Southern Connecticut Conference meet at the Wesleyan University Pool.

Once again Anna Lu was a double winner as she picked up victories in both the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 57.78 seconds) and the 500 free (5:14.6). Lu was also on the victorious Lady Spartans’ 200 free relay. She teamed with Madeline Snow, Dana Chung, and Dana Grindall for a winning time of 1:43.01.

Snow also posted a first place 2:16.16 in the 200 individual medley. Grindall did the same thing in the 50 free with her 24.56. Chung claimed the 100 butterfly with her 1:03.22.   Amanda Craig rang up a first place score of 2.19.95 in diving.

Amity opened the meet with Mollee Lasto, Lydia Pokluda, Grindall, and Hannah Babbitz winning the 200 medley relay in 1:58.17.

The only contested event Amity did not win was the 100 free, where Mercy’s Mary McKenna was victorious with her time of 55.83.

Holding their usual big lead after winning the 200 free relay, the Lady Spartan  went non-scoring/ exhibition for the remainder of the meet.

The 9-0 Lady Spartans host Branford Thursday night at the Orange Community Center Pool in a 7:30 p.m. start.
