After Two Losses, The Amity Spartans Will Bounce Back!

After 16 consecutive victories, the Amity Baseball team realized its first loss to Foran on Friday, May 14 during a home game at Amity.

The Lions were seeking revenge for a 7-0 shutout at their home field in Milford on April 14, and I’m sure they celebrated the victory against the previously undefeated Spartans, all the way on the bus ride home.

Last evening under the lights of Brinley Field at Old Tavern Park in Orange where many of our Spartans honed their skills in little league, Amity faced off against Xavier in what turned out to be a very tense matchup with dozens of “questionable” calls.

The game was another heartbreaker with a stunning outcome of 12-1.

Even after their long winning streak, the coaches and parents prepared the players for eventual losses and continue to support and encourage them and keep their spirits high.

There are only two more regular season games remaining: Guilford (at Guilford) on Wednesday, May 18 – 4 p.m. and Hamden at Brinley Field in Orange on Friday, May 20 at 7 p.m. before the CIAC qualifying round and tournament games round out 2022.

We believe in the Amity Spartans, their coaches, parents, and fans to keep their heads in the game and not dwell on the possibility of not winning. You boys are among the best of the best in the state. You have shown that time after time this year and you will be back on top again. Go out there and be yourselves – the best damn baseball players you can be. Just Believe
