Attention College Students Apply Online Now For An Absentee Ballot For November’s Election

Orange Town Clerk Mary Shaw is urging all students to register to vote before leaving for school or college and applying online for an absentee ballot.

“One of the greatest ways we can demonstrate our commitment to our democracy is to exercise our right to a free and secret vote,” Shaw stated, “when you look at other countries you immediately recognize it is not something we should take for granted.”

Any U.S. citizen, 17 years of age, may apply for admission as an elector by pre-registering and will become an elector on the day of their 18th birthday.

The voter registration application and all related details can be found on the Town of Orange website: www.orange-ct.gov. Once on the website, visit the Registrar of Voters page.

Voters can find information regarding absentee ballots by visiting the Town Clerk’s Department page on the Town of Orange website: www.orange-ct.gov. Once there, click the Voting and Election Information link which will lead directly to the Secretary of the State Election and Voting home page.

The Town Clerk strongly suggests utilizing the “Requesting an Absentee Ballot Online” option. This new online option helps simplify the application process and eliminates the need to fill out a paper application form that would be either mailed or dropped off at the Town Clerk’s Office.

Please contact the Town Clerk via email: mshaw@orange-ct.gov if you have any questions.
