Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo announced the arrival of five baby Cotton Patch Geese, born at the zoo on March 21 – a zoo first for this special species.Why is it significant?
Cotton Patch Geese, a threatened heritage breed, were once a familiar sight on Southeastern farms, helping farmers by weeding cotton patches and corn fields up until the 1950s. The females are distinguished by their grey plumage, while the males are white.
