Joan P. (Hammond) Spencer, 91, of Wallingford, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 5, 2022, at MidState Medical Center.
Joan was born in New Haven, CT, June 20, 1931, a daughter of the late Thomas F. and Marguerite (O’Neill) Hammond and retired from Bradley Insurance Co. where she worked as an Executive Secretary. She adored her cats and her grand dog Sasha. Joan was an avid Red Sox and UCONN fan.
She will be deeply missed by her children, James Spencer (Sal A. DeCola) of Wallingford, William Spencer (Susan) of Orange, Deborah Spencer of Meriden, and Susan Lincoln (Harold) of Wallingford, with whom she lived with and was well taken care of by. Joan also leaves seven beloved grandchildren and seven cherished great-grandchildren. Joan was predeceased by her son, Thomas M. Spencer; and her grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Spencer and Stanley P. Gura.
Interment will be private in St. John Cemetery. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Ave., Meriden, CT 06450. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home.
