Orange Lions Host The 64th Annual Easter Egg Hunt This Weekend

Get your baskets and bags ready, kids! Nice weather is forecasted for the Orange Lions Club’s 64th annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Orange Fairgrounds, 525 Orange Center Road, this Saturday, March 28 from 11:30 am. to 1 p.m.

Parents may wish to bring a camera for a picture of their child with the Easter Bunny. Please note that parking for this event should be on paved parking areas only.

Leading into the big event, there will be face painting, games and activities for the children, and hot coffee for the adults.

Traditionally, the Easter Bunny arrives at 12:30 p.m., one half-hour (30 minutes) before the start of the Easter Egg Hunt itself.

The Easter Egg Hunt is divided into four (4) age groups. This allows each child to have an equal opportunity to collect the thousands of chocolate eggs which the Lions Club will have to distribute.

The four age groups are (1) Pre School through Kindergarten; (2) First GradeĀ and Second Grade; (3) Third GradeĀ and Fourth Grade; (4) Fifth Grade and Sixth Grade.

Thousands of chocolate eggs will be distributed during the hunt. Prizes will be awarded to children in all age categories for finding specially marked eggs.

An adult should accompany all participating children to the event, but are asked to stay off of the “picking” area during the hunt. Each child should have a bag or basket to collect their eggs.

Editor’s Note: The event is free for Orange residents, and the Lions provide all of the chocolate eggs dispersed on the field for all age categories. If you would like to make this a bigger experience for your child, why not consider donating a bag of wrapped candy on Saturday for inclusion. Just give it to one of the Lions members stationed in the roped off area before they “seed” the field.

This year’s chairman is Lawrence Messina, for more information, he can be reached at Lmess41793@sol.com or by calling 203-980-4111.

A rain date of Saturday, April 4, same time and location is reserved if forecasters are wrong about this weekend’s weather.
