Orange Police: Steering Wheel Locks May Help Curb Car Thefts

The Orange Police Department received a shipment of steering wheel locks as part of the Hyundai anti-theft service campaign. (Think back to the popular 1980s “CLUB” device.)

Hyundai is providing the devices to local departments in an effort to stop car thefts of Hyundais or Kias manufactured prior to November 2021.

These steering wheel locks are available to all owners free of charge. The steering wheel locks can be picked up, free of charge, at the front desk of the Orange Police Department, 314 Lambert Road, Orange, CT, at any time.

Gone are the days when a Maserati or Porsche was on the top ten hit list for car thieves. Who would have thought that a soccer mom would have to fear that her Kia would be stolen from her driveway or a Hyundai would be missing from the mall parking lot after a shopping trip? (A Tic-Toc Challenge prompted the thefts)

Thank goodness that the vehicle manufacturers are cooperating and providing some sort of extra security and that our Orange police are here to help.
