Thank You Orange Highway Workers And Contract Plow Drivers

The Orange Highway Department is always ready for weather events that could adversely effect the community. Crew Chief Donny Foyer begins monitoring the weather well in advance to prepare for whatever Mother Nature has up her sleeve.

This week’s snowfall was no different, on Sunday evening, Town crews went out at 8 p.m. and salted the roads then waited for a noticeable accumulation.

At 3 a.m. contract plow drivers and the entire fleet put the metal to the pavement and began plowing hte roads, purposely some distance from the curbs and lawns to protect those areas in this late season snow event. They worked throughout the morning and the roads were perfect for morning commuters.

Late on Turesday night Highway Department workers were getting ready for work again and at midnight, they got out and did some more sanding to assure us that the roads would be safe for the morning commute.

Snow is in the forecast for some areas of the state this weekend, but, Foyer said, “We’re expecting rain, so it shouldn’t be a problem, But we’ll be ready.”
