The Orange Lions Groovy Dinner Dance Will Be Outta Sight

When you listen to the music of your youth, do you like to move to the beat? The Orange Lions Club members do too, and so it’s hosting a casual dinner dance on Sunday, May 19 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the beautiful West River Hall, 37 Orlando St., in West Haven. This new fundraising event is entitled “Groovy Tunes and Pasta”, with all proceeds going to Lions’ charities.

Doors open at 4 p.m. for a social hour. A dinner buffet including baked ziti, meatballs, salad, rolls, dessert, and soft drinks will be served beginning at 5 p.m. Guests may choose to come dressed in attire from the eras of rock ‘n roll, hippie, or disco to add to the fun, and may bring their own alcoholic beverages if desired.

Around 6 p.m. DJ Jazzy Kat will start playing “groovy tunes” dating anywhere from the 1960s to the present, depending on what people want to dance to, and she’ll bring other fun things, like party dances and trivia. The evening’s event wraps up at 9 p.m.

Tickets are only $40 per person, which must be purchased in advance. They are available from any Orange Lions Club member, or by calling Marianne or Ken at 203-795-3906.

Would any Lions’ event be complete without raffle baskets? Of course not, so try your luck winning any of several prize baskets and gifts.

Proceeds from this ‘groovy’ event will benefit Lions charities for blindness aid, prevention and eye research, such as Low Vision and Fidelco Guide Dogs. The Orange Lions Club also awards community mini-grants supporting more than a dozen local groups, including services to youths, the Case Memorial Library, The Volunteer Fire Dept., police programs, and senior services.
