Another Casualty Of The Coronavirus — The Strawberry Festival

Following is a message from the Orange Strawberry Festival Committee:
Due to the ongoing pandemic and with guidance from government officials, the Orange Strawberry Festival scheduled for June 13, 2020, is CANCELLED.
We will miss the delicious food, rides, RED car show, entertainment, and especially all of our festival-goers!
Please message the Orange Strawberry Festival page on Facebook or call Jake Noyes at 203-500-7008 with questions.
Please stay safe, stay healthy, and we will persevere.  See you next year!
Editor’s Note and a suggestion:
The Annual Strawberry Festival has been a town treasure for many years from its humble beginning on the town green to the big multi-activity extravaganza that it has been in the past few years since moving to the Orange Fairgrounds.
The folks at the Orange Congregational Church work tirelessly for months preparing for the event from getting the word out, to finding vendors and car enthusiasts to participate, to picking and prepping strawberries for the shortcake and pies.
We want them to know that they are all appreciated for everything they do for the community and how sorry we are that this year’s festival cannot go forward as planned.
Personally, we believe that a pie fundraiser could be held with enough social distancing to help raise money and to make sure everyone gets their fill of the best strawberry and strawberry rhubarb pies on the face of the earth.
Think about it, order and pay in advance online and pick up at specific times. It CAN be done.
Everyone be well. If no pie this year, we’ll see you next year.
