Attention Renters — A Message From The Assessor's Office

The State of Connecticut offers a rent and utility rebate program to all eligible residents of the Town of Orange who rented real property during the 2017 calendar year. This rebate program is a grant provided by the State to help elderly and/or totally disabled persons (regardless of age) cope with the increasing cost of rent and utility charges.

If you were sixty-five years of age at the close of December 2017, paid rent and utilities on real property in the Town of Orange during the course of calendar year 2017 and have a total adjusted gross income for the 2017 calendar year of $35,300 or less if single, or $43,000 or less if married, you may qualify.

Please bring copies of your 2017 federal income tax return and your Form SSA 1099 if you filed.

If you were not required to file a federal income tax return, please bring in copies of all income received over the 2017 calendar year, including a copy of your Form SSA 1099, a statement of Social Security benefits received for 2017.

In addition bring in copies of receipts for rent paid during the 2017 calendar year together with receipts for heat, water, and electricity, which were paid in the 2017 calendar year.

You can use your most current lease that was signed & you can contact the UI, SCGas and Regional Water Authority for an itemized bill for 2017.

I look forward to seeing you.
