Did you attend the open house/garden tour at the Stone-Otis House last Thursday?

Members of the Garden Club of Orange have been working tirelessly on the gardens since April in all kinds of heat and humidity and welcomed visitors to tour the grounds around the historic Victorian Era homestead while members of the Historical Society opened the house for a walkthrough.

The event was scheduled for 4-6 p.m., which some visitors said wasn’t long enough, but garden club member Maryellen Bespuda explained that they’d hosted three-hour tours in the past and no one showed up for the last hour, so two hours works out well.

One area in the garden that guests seemed to enjoy was a new Rose Tea bench, boxwood and hairy sunflower plants near the well that were purchased with a $500 award from a National Garden Club Plant America Grant.
