Winter Watercolor Painting

Wednesday, January 11, 3:45 p.m.

For children in Grades 1-3. Create a magical winter artwork with watercolors, tape, oil pastels, and salt! Registration is required.

Thursday, January 12, 7 p.m.

Join Bookcase leader Toby Zabinski for a discussion of Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America’s Shining Women by Kate Moore on Zoom. Registration is required, as for online security reasons only registered attendees will be able to attend this event. Registered attendees will receive a Zoom link via email before the event.

Take & Make: Bullet Journals

For adults and teens in grades 7-12. Have a goal to stay organized? In need of a scheduling system you’ll keep? Then plan in style with this bullet journal kit! It’s a unique way to keep events, notes, goals, general life and creative fun in order. Your kit will include a blank journal, pens, and instructions for creating a bullet journal system.

Preschool Obstacle Course

Saturday, January 21, 10:30 a.m.

For children ages 2-5 years. Take the playground inside! Come play at our homemade obstacle course designed just for preschoolers. We’ll build with blocks, go through tunnels, and follow the footprints around and around the meeting room.

Teen Book Box

Monday, January 23

Free book box service for teens in grades 7-12. Each month that you register you will pick up a box containing two hand-selected teen books for you to borrow as well as some treats and other surprises for you to keep. Registration: January 1-8. *Don’t forget to complete the Google Form you receive in your confirmation email to complete your reservation. Boxes ready for pickup: January 23-28.

Take & Make Food Kit: Nian Gao

For all ages. It’s the year of the Rabbit! Learn about Lunar New Year and enjoy homemade nian gao with this tasty food kit. This version of nian gao is a brown sugar steamed rice cake. One kit per household.

Tween Reads: Mystery

For tweens in grades 4-6. Everyone loves a good mystery! Tell us what you like to read, and we’ll check you out a mystery book from our collection. You’ll also get some mystery goodies to keep and a snack to keep you solving clues. Registration is required; kit pickups will take place between Monday, January 23 and Saturday, January 28.

Amazing Mazes: Ozobots

Wednesday, January 25, 3:45 p.m.

For tweens in Grades 4-6. Design mazes on paper to control your robot! Ozobots use special markers to control speed, direction, and even do cool moves. Put your engineering skills to the test with other tweens. Registration is required, this event will take place in the Craft Room.

Ban This Book! Club

Monday, January 30, 7 p.m.

Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe was the most frequently challenged book of 2021 and 2022. Join librarian Rebecca and co-leader Elizabeth Ewen as we discuss this as a work of literature as well as an object of censorship. This program will be held in the Meeting Room at the Library.
