After a surprisingly glum season and 10 consecutive losses, the Blades (Amity/Cheshire/North Haven) Girls Ice Hockey team enjoyed a glorious comeback on their home rink in Hamden on Wednesday, Feb. 9.
The Blades went up against Ridgefield/Danbury/Immaculate, and came out on top with a 5-4 victory.

Second Period
The Blades came out strong in the second period with Avery DePodesta shooting one in, assisted by Sami Drane and Ellen Barto.
Then, it was Ridgefield’s Addison Avery-Payne’s time to shine with two goals, the first assisted by Mia DAandria, and one unassisted.
Still behind, Drane added one to the Blades’ total, assisted by DePodesta

Third Period
Perhaps head coach John Peschell channeled 1980 US Olympic Hockey Coach Herb Brooks before the third period, but something incredible happened.
The Blades were on fire when they returned to the ice.
Barto goaled off an assist from Drane. Then Drane scored, assisted by DePodesta.
Do You Believe In Miracles? The game ended in a beautiful victory with Sami Drane getting a Hat Trick, assisted by Barto and Elaina Scaso.
Final Score 5-4 Blades.
