Girls Hockey: Blades Defeat Hall-Conard In Overtime, Improve Record to 10-3

The Blades (Amity-Cheshire-North Haven) Girls Ice Hockey team hosted the Hall-Conard Warchiefs in Shelton on Saturday night.
The Warchiefs got a quick jump on the Blades with an unassisted goal by Sam Gordon Wexler at 4:21 in the first period. Less than a minute later, Abby Goncalves scored on an assist from Luci Alissi, ending the first period with a 2-0 lead.
The Blades came on strong in the second period with Andrea DelVecchio scoring an unassisted goal in the first 30 seconds. Cally Dixon tied the game with an unassisted goal at 8:25. Things were looking good until the Warchiefs’ Alissi and Goncalves reversed their roles from the first period and broke the tie at 2:26, pulling into a 3-2 lead.
At the end of the third period, Dixon tied the game for the Blades with an unassisted goal at 2:03.
The game went into overtime and after five minutes, the winner was decided when the Blades’ DelVecchio made the final goal, assisted by Megan Spring and Shannon Reilly. The Blades won this one 4-3.
Records: Blades 10-3, Hall-Conard 5-2-4.
