The Blades (Amity/North Haven/Cheshire) Girls’ Ice Hockey Team had a home game today in Hamden.
The girls played against the Suffield (co-op) Wildcats.
In the first period, the Blades played well, moving the puck and taking shots. Goalie Caitlin Ranciato demonstrated several ninja-like moves when making her saves.
Then, the Wildcats showed their claws, with 4:03 remaining in the period, Sophia Lupone made a goal assisted by Shianne Cecire. One minute later, Nora Birmingham scored, assisted by Cassidy Begley and Sophia Blais.
First Period Score: 2-0 Suffield.
There was a lot of back and forth in the second period, the Blades made a lot of shots, but all of them were stopped by Wildcats goalie Caitlyn Caldon.
Birmingham scored on Skylar Boucher’s assist with 3:58 remaining
Second Period Score: 3-0 Suffield
The third period had more of the same until Birmingham got her hat trick, assisted by Tori Geaglone with less than two and a half minutes left in the game.
Final Score: Wildcats 4, Blades 0
