Heat Advisory In Effect Through Wednesday Evening (tips and reminders)

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory effective from 11 a.m. today, until 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29.
What to expect:
HEAT INDEX VALUES of 95 to 104. Late Tuesday morning through early Tuesday evening and again late Wednesday morning into early Wednesday evening.
Extreme heat can cause illness and death among the at-risk population who cannot stay cool. The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
An advisory is issued when a hazardous weather or hydrologic event is occurring, imminent or likely.
Seek a cool place to spend your time an air-conditioned eatery; the library; the mall; or the Community Center.
Be sure to keep your pets safe by:
• Not leaving them outdoors during this oppressive heat wave
• Never leaving them in a car, even with the windows cracked.
• Giving them plenty of water, even if they are indoor pets
Be prepared to give your children a cool drink or treat after school, especially if they don’t have air conditioning in their classroom.
Check on the welfare of elderly or ill neighbors and offer to help them if necessary.
Think about your mail carrier and leave a cold bottle of water outside in a cooler or insulated bag.
