Get ready to mark your calendars, folks! The highly anticipated Community Farmers Market is back and better than ever, inviting you to the pavilion at Orange Fairgrounds every Thursday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Take a leisurely stroll through the marketplace, where you can discover the freshest local produce, delectable baked goods, delicious meats and eggs, and unique handmade creations by talented local artisans.
Leading the charge since 2016 is none other than the fabulous Annemarie Sliby, Executive Director of the Orange Economic Development Corporation.
It takes a lot of work to organize the event, finding local farmers and businesses to participate every week. All of the vendors have a hand-made element and are made in the State of Connecticut. Vendors who are selling commercially made products or who want to advertise a public business are not accepted. Each stand has a unique selection of products, ensuring none offer the same items. Vegetables are the solitary exception, as about up to two stands of vegetables may stock similar produce.
The market aims to draw a wider audience by offering a diverse range of options. This farmers market ensures diversified vendors with an exclusive product offering. Alongside vegetables, categories include health & beauty, artisan foods, sweets, and bakers, along with crafts such as pottery, jewelry, wood products, shell art, personalized gifts, embroidered items, and much more. Exciting additions this year include local farm wineries showcasing their wines and ciders, available on alternate days to maintain product uniqueness for each stand, but still providing opportunities to sample diverse options on different days.
The farmers market is enhanced with the addition of live music, creating an entertaining atmosphere, and attracting individuals who appreciate a vibrant and engaging market experience. On concert nights, the town comes alive from 6 to 8 p.m., with attendees gathering early to enjoy the market before the band plays. On days without a main act, instrumentalists grace the pavilion to provide background music, keeping the atmosphere lively and enjoyable.
Food trucks at the market are a highlight not to be missed. Some visitors may simply drop by to grab dinner from a food truck, quickly browsing before heading home. Some regulars come solely for the market, as well as those who come to see a band at the gazebo and those there for specific food trucks.
A diverse selection of vendors is vital for maintaining foot traffic, as vendors won’t participate without customers, and customers won’t come without a variety of vendors, ensuring variety remains the key to a thriving market.
Don’t miss out on the magic of the community farmers market! Whether you need fresh produce or are simply seeking a delightful escape from your daily routine, this market has it all. With a variety of vendors and a vibrant atmosphere, the market ensures an unforgettable experience for everyone.
