Notice is hereby given to the taxpayers of the Town of Orange that the supplemental motor vehicle and the second installment of personal property and real estate taxes are due January 1, 2021.
The last day to pay without interest is February 1, 2021.
The tax office has been open throughout the pandemic. The only changes have been that there is only one window open for accepting payments. Payments made by cash must be exact change.
Please keep in mind that the only acceptable means of the office receiving tax payments are:
• Hand to tax office staff o in the office drop slot
• US Post Office Mail
• FEDEX/UPS
• Online credit card payments (which have fees)
Unacceptable means of receiving tax payments are:
• Leaving in the rear door milk box
• Placing on the hallway heat registers or leaving with another office
• Enclosed with mail for another department
• Slid under the office door
The above situations create unnecessary risks for lost or misapplied tax payments and jeopardizes the tax collector’s bond. Tax bills are time-sensitive; we need the US postmarked envelope.
As the last day to pay approaches, the office is extremely busy, and we are short-staffed as well. If you mail a payment US postmarked on OR prior to the last day it is considered on time. Messages may be left on voice mail and w will return your call by the end of the day.
Ways to Pay:
Mail-in. If you want a receipt, enclose the taxpayer’s copy along with coupon B and a self-addressed envelope.
Bring in the payment if a receipt is needed bring in the taxpayer’s copy along with coupon B
Credit Card payments online only and there are additional fees.
NOTE: If you are being held up at the DMV you must pay your delinquent motor vehicle taxes in the office in cash, exact change only. You will be cleared at the DMV the following day. If you pay by check or online there is an 11-day wait for the payment to clear the system.
