Henna
Monday, July 18, 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

For adults and students entering grades 7-12. Learn about henna and receive a beautiful henna tattoo from artist Jamilah. Please register for only one session.

Ping Pong Poppers
Wednesday, July 20, 2 p.m.

For tweens entering grades 4-6. Make a simple ping pong ball launcher, and use your engineering skills to improve it! Please note that this activity involves latex balloons. This is an in-person program for tweens, and takes place on Wednesday, July 20 at 2pm. Registration is required.

Intro to Dungeons & Dragons

Wednesday, July 20, 2 p.m.

For rising 7th-12th graders. Have you ever wanted to learn how to play Dungeons & Dragons? Whether you’ve always wanted to learn or only heard about it in passing, come spend some time to learn the basics of 5th Edition D&D. In this program, teens will learn how to make a character and the basics of how to play the game, including a combat demonstration. If you’ve ever wanted to play D&D but don’t know where to start, this is the program for you!

Oscar Film: CODA

As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Ruby is the only hearing person in her deaf family. When the family’s fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents.1 hr. 51 min. PG-13. Registration is required for all Oscar films. Please note that all indoor library program plans have been reviewed by the Orange Health Department for COVID-19 safety compliance. The Library may alter or cancel this program with minimal notice if health guidance changes after plans have been scheduled.

2-Day Event: Virtual 3D Printing Workshop

Tuesday, July 26, and Wednesday, July 27, 2 p.m.

For tweens entering grades 4-7 in the fall. Learn to design for a 3D printer and create your very own unique object! This event is led by Aditi Bhattamishra, a junior finalist in the Future Engineers 2018 Two for the Crew Challenge.

Aditi, now a rising junior at Amity Regional High School, is currently doing a multi-year research project on prothetics using CAD modeling and 3D printing.

This two-day virtual workshop takes place on Tuesday, July 26 from 2-4pm and Wednesday, July 27 from 2-4pm. Participants will be sent a zoom link to join. For security reasons, your zoom name must match your registration in order to be allowed into the session.

Participants must also create a free Google Sketchup account using an e-mail or Google account. We will send you an e-mail after you register so you can create this account prior to the workshop.

Grumbling Gryphons Traveling Children’s Theatre: The Myth of Persephone

Saturday, July 30, 2 p.m.

The Myth of Persephone, an ancient Greek myth, tells the story of how the seasons came to be in a blend of music, mythology, masks, and costumes. Presented by the Friends of the Library. Funded by the Prown Fund. Registration is required. 

Local children and teens (ages 8-15) who would like to participate in the performance are invited to attend a workshop in drama, dance, music, and ASL from 10 a.m.-1:45 p.m. at the library. Teen Take & Make Kit: Neon Signs

Monday, August 1

For rising 7th-12th graders. Create your own custom neon sign with this fun take-home craft for teens. All supplies will be provided. Please choose your neon color preference when registering*. We will do our best to get everyone their first choice. If all requests cannot be accommodated we will assign colors in the order that participants register.

This is a take-home event for teens. Please be cool – don’t register adults or children (going into grade 6 or younger. Kits will be available for pickup between Monday, August 1 and Saturday, August 6 at the first floor service desk.

*Please note that all of our blue kits have been claimed. You can still choose that color as an option in case of cancellation.
