There’s A Black Bear In My Yard, What Should I Do?

The town has been buzzing with increasing sightings of black bear sightings during the past month.

Not knowing what to do, they call the police department or town hall for answers.

Since there’s pretty much nothing either of these two departments can do for you if a bear is raiding your bird feeder or lumbering across your backyard, the town website posted the following statement and link as an FYI to save you time.

Many residents have been calling and reporting black bear sightings in their neighborhoods.

Remember 911 is for emergencies only, and a bent shepherd’s hook, empty bird feeder, and spilled garbage cans are not considered emergencies.

Please visit the CT DEEP website for information and to report sightings.
