Frank J. Tagliatela, 103, a longtime resident of Orange, entered into rest on June 28, 2025.He was the husband of the late Ann (Cassella) Tagliatela. Born in New Haven, a son of the late Frank and Josephine (Bizzaro) Tagliatela, Frank grew up in Hamden and was educated in the Hamden School System. He was a World War II combat veteran, serving in the US Army from 1942 until 1946, with the 639th AAA Battalion, throughout Europe. Frank began his career as a material inspector for the Springfield Army Ordnance.
Frank leaves his two sons, Attorney Mark and Attorney Michael Tagliatela. In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by siblings Anne Carrano, Josephine D’Amato, Madelyn Bertolini, Edythe Sciarra, Paul, Louis, Rosemary, Mary, and Ralph Tagliatela.
A master carpenter, Frank worked in the family businesses for many years, including Universal Woodworking and Franklin Construction. He retired in 1994 from the engineering department at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
He enjoyed trips to the casino with his sons and following the Yankees, as he was an ardent fan. Frank loved dogs and was especially fond of his beagles: Friskie, Blackfrost, Winston, Barney, and Copper. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers he has had over the years.
The hours for visitation will take place on Thursday morning, July 3, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the West Haven Funeral Home, 662 Savin Ave., West Haven, CT. Prayer service will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Entombment, which will be private with military honors, will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery, Derby.
