Obituary: Walter Bespuda, 88, Beloved Husband, Father, True Town Treasure

Walter M. Bespuda, 88, of Orange entered into rest on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was the devoted husband of 61 years to Maryellen (Keating) Bespuda. Walter was born in Orange on June 4, 1933, son of the late Stephen and Katherine (Budzinski) Bespuda, and was a lifelong Orange resident.

He was a lifelong farmer and a School Bus Driver for the Town of Orange. Walter was very active with the Town of Orange and received many awards for his dedicated service.

He served on various town committees, was chairman and founder of the Orange County Fair, and was a former member of the 4H Club. Walter was also very active with the Orange Fire Department.

Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends. He was the beloved father of Stephen Bespuda and his wife Linda, and Maryellen Holden and her husband Ray; loving grandfather of Stephen Bespuda, Jr. and his wife Rachel, Lauren Bespuda, Eric Holden, Rachel Holden and Katherine Holden; and great-grandfather of Caroline and Stephen Timothy Bespuda.

Walter was also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Katherine Sym and Elsie Bespuda.

Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Edward f. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby.

On Monday, his funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home parlor. Burial will follow at Orange Center Cemetery.
