The Orange Police Department swore in its newest officer, Ana Rita Castelao, on Monday, Nov. 30.Ana was born in Portugal and emigrated to this country at an early age with her parents.
She is a 2018 graduate of Central Connecticut State Connecticut, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Criminology.
Ana graduated from the Hartford Police Academy in 2019 and had been working as a police officer for the City of Hartford.
She will be assigned to the patrol division after a brief training period.
Police Commission Chairman Jack Barton administered the oath of office to Officer Castelao at a small, family-only ceremony at the police department this morning.
