Orange Lions Help Fill Orange Food Pantry

Lions Pat Romano and Betty Hadlock

Recognizing the serious food insecurity problem in Orange resulting from the current public health crisis, Pat Sanders Romano, President of the Orange Lions Club announced that the Orange Lions successfully organized and implemented a Town of Orange Food Pantry donation drive.

Led by Lions Betty Hadlock and Pat McCorkle, Orange Lions Club received more than $2,000 in cash contributions for the purchase of local supermarket grocery gift cards and collected a trunkload of nonperishable foods for donation.

All of the proceeds of the collection directly benefit the Orange Food Pantry.

Augmenting their efforts, the Orange Lions received funds from the Connecticut Lions District 23A from a District-wide Lions Club International Grant to aid local communities with food bank needs.  The grant assisted Orange with an additional $250 in grocery store gift cards.

The Orange Food Pantry gratefully accepted the donation today, Friday, May 8, and will begin distributing the supermarket cards and food donations to families in need in Orange.
