Officers responded to the Target store at 25 Boston Post Road on a shoplifting complaint on July 5 at 3:48 p.m.
According to the report, investigation revealed that Shondell J. Sanders, 47, of New Haven took $576 worth of merchandise without paying for it.
In addition, when her identity was questioned, she provided officers with a fake name. Subsequently, she was taken into custody and charged with both fifth-degree larceny and interference/resisting arrest.
Sanders was held on a $1,000 bond and received a court date of July 6.
