Tonight’s full moon, the Harvest Moon, promises to be big and beautiful, with clear skies.
If you truly relish the full moon, you will like being outside for this one. It will be a “supermoon” [The moon’s average distance from Earth is 238,900 miles. The harvest moon will be 224,599 miles from Earth, making it the third-closest of 2025.] and it will reach its peak at 11:49 p.m. The perfect time to view the Harvest Moon will be by watching it rise on Tuesday during dusk shortly after sunset.
If you’re lucky you can catch a show as the Draconid Meteor Shower passes through. The meteor shower will peak overnight on Oct.8-9, with about 10 “shooting stars” expected per hour, though the waning harvest moon will make them hard to see.
