Wow, What A Morning

Pretty Snow Day in Orange

The first snowstorm of 2022 brought slippery roads, slow travel, school closings, a few accidents and at least one confused driver.

At 4:30 a.m. there already was about 4 inches of snow on the ground.  Travel on I-95 was a slippery, slow maximum of 40 mph with in two driver-carved out lanes.

One person in a Range Rover that I’d always thought could handle any terrain and conditions, was crawling at around 25 mph, with its hazard lights on.

A tow truck assisted an 18-wheeler that slid while entering the truck stop in Milford and ended up over the embankment.

The Orange Highway Department Crews did an amazing job on the side roads, yet the Boston Post Road, which is the responsibility of state plow drivers was less than desirable, with vehicles slipping and sliding as they attempted to navigate into parking lots.

We hope that everyone had a safe and uneventful commute if you had to drive this morning. I hope you have a heating pad for your back so you can relax after you’re done shoveling. (We’re lucky it’s fluffy and light this time)

This was just a practice storm, more snow is forecast for next weekend — it’s New England, get used to it.
