Back To School Plans From The Orange Superintendent

Based on the current low levels of transmission of COVID 19 (less than 1%), all students will return to school in-person as part of a full reopening plan with mitigating strategies in place on August 31st. As a friendly reminder, parents have the option to choose remote learning while we are in the full in-person model. Please see the overview of our remote plan then take our follow-up survey to inform us of your decision regarding your child(ren’s) participation in either remote or full in-person learning for the start of school. Remember, when metrics regarding community indicators change, we may be guided to shift to either a hybrid plan or a full remote plan. I ask that you respond to the survey by midnight on Wednesday, August 12th, 2020. This information is critical for finalizing our reopening plans.

The State recently shared five Addendums to its reopening plan: Adapt, Advance, Achieve: Connecticut’s Plan to Learn and Grow Together.  The Addendums can be accessed by clicking the following links:

This additional guidance will help us to refine elements of the Orange School District Plan as well as our Special Education Specific Plan

Please know we continue to value your input and urge you to contact representatives of the Reopening Committee regarding your questions and comments. As noted in several communications, the district’s COVID webpage continues to be a source of on-going communication and information.

Thank you for your attention and contribution to this process.

Be well!

Respectfully,

Vince
