On Saturday, Jan. 27, the Amity Spartans Hockey Team was on the road in Guilford for a game against the Indians.
First Period
Although Amity’s Connor Bath put the Spartans on the scoreboard first at 6:34 assisted by Joey Schittina and Colin Hughes. Within a minute, Guilford’s Jack Ring tied the score, assisted by Jack Dacey and John DeLucia. The trio of Ring, Dacey, and DeLucia repeated the feat at 3:35. Then, with just 1:12 left in the period, DeLucia made a goal on an assist from Ring. Score 3-1 Indians.
Second Period
Four minutes after returning to the ice, Lucas Napolitano pulled Guilford even further ahead, assisted by Zach Woxland, and Jake Watrous.
Now three points behind, the Spartans fought back and at 8:15, Cody White shot one in on an assist from Schittina. After a lot of back and forth, and with just :29 remaining in the period, James Blum scored, assisted by Brian Early. Score 4-3 Indians.
Third Period
At this point, it really was anyone’s game and both teams wanted a win.
At 7:51 the Guilford trio of DeLucia, Ring, and Dacey came together again and scored the final goal and skating away with a 5-3 victory.
Records: Amity 6-5, Guilford 10-2.
Next Up: Amity is HOME on Wednesday for a game against Cheshire (7-6) at 6:30 p.m.
