Earlier today, July 1, 2021, detectives from the Woodbridge Police Department and the CT State Police Central District Major Crime arrested a Derby resident in connection with the death of a West Haven man that occurred on June 7, 2021 on the property of the Pease Road Playground / Alegi Athletic Fields at 160 Pease Road.
The victim, 33-year-old Rondell Atkinson of West Haven, CT, died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Arrested was Jorden Rudel, 24, of Caroline St, Derby.
He has been charged with felony murder, murder, first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny.
He was presented for arraignment this afternoon in New Haven Superior Court and remains incarcerated in lieu of bail which was set at $2,000,000.
No additional information is available for release at this time as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
