Joanna Oleschuk, 74, passed away peacefully at her home in Orange on November 23. She was born in Ukraine, the daughter of John and Mary Dobza Bereza.
She had a very fulfilling life. Joanna loved her family, gardening, and her animals. She leaves behind five children, Ola McNeil, Joseph Oleschuk, and Roman Oleschuk of Orange, Helen O’Mara, and Vlaja Telfer, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was a devoted member of St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, a long-time volunteer of their Pyrohy Project, and a member of Sestrichi.
Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Sunday, December 1 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St., New Haven.
The Panikhida Service will be held at 6 PM.
(A Panikhida is a prayer service offered by a priest to repose the soul of an Orthodox Christian who has departed this life.)
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church 569 George St., New Haven, on Monday December 2 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park, 90 Pine Rock Ave., New Haven.
