Rosemary Prete, 95, of Orange, peacefully entered into eternal rest, on Feb. 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of the late John J. Prete. Born in Akron, Ohio, Nov. 9, 1930, daughter of the late Anthony Zumbo and Natalie Fiore. Mrs. Prete, the beloved family matriarch, was the Chief Financial Officer of A. Prete and Son Construction Co.
She had served as past president of the American Committee on Italian Migration and belonged to the Hospital of St. Raphael Ladies Auxiliary. Rosemary was a long-time communicant and Ladies Guild member of Holy Infant Church and belonged to the Race Brook Country Club.
She enjoyed traveling throughout the world with her late husband, John, and especially loved spending time with her family.
Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth R. Prete (Peter Hentschel); her son, Neil J. Prete (Alicia); her grandchildren, Jonathan, Kayhla, Zachary and Alecsander; her great-grandchildren, Penelope, Piper and Mila; her step-grandchildren, Michael Hentschel and Samantha Pinckney; her step great-grandchildren, Abigail, Jacob, Alex and Gabriella; and sister, M. Jennifer McCracken.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Samuel Zumbo and Josephine Murdocco.
A funeral mass will take place at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road on Thursday, February. 26 at 11 a.m.
