Orange Police: Speeding Car Caught On Video Before Crash

On Tuesday, Dec. 16, Orange police officer Mekhi Barnett was patrolling Route 34 a little after 1:00 a.m., when a Dodge Charger went flying past his cruiser.
Seconds later, Ofc. Barnett found the car wrecked against some trees near the intersection of Walnut Hill Road after the driver lost control.
According to the OPD post on Facebook, “by some miracle, the driver was uninjured and hadn’t hurt anyone else, but his reckless speed certainly caused significant damage.”
The lights in the video available on the Town of Orange, Connecticut, Police Department Facebook page, are at the Birchwood and Rt. 114 intersections, heading toward Derby.
Jabouin Kervens, 24, of Norwich, was arrested on scene and charged with  reckless driving, speeding, and failure to maintain his lane.
He has a court date on January 5 at the Superior Court in Derby.
