While some weather forecasters are hysterical over the upcoming weekend snow storm, some have a more level headed approach.
Orange Live has made it a tradition to make one phone call before the first flakes fall, because over the decades, we’ve found that Highway Crew Chief Donny Foyer is dedicated to the town of Orange and is extremely accurate when it comes to what manpower is needed during stormy weather.
He watches the weather maps closely and when the front reaches New York his work begins. On Sunday morning, when the snow is supposed to begin falling here, he will have 16 Highway Department personnel and 6 contractors head out to salt and plow the roads.
“We’re supposed to get a foot of nice fluffy snow, so it shouldn’t be a problem,” Foyer said.
Although the state is seeing a shortage of salt, Orange has enough to get the job done. “The roads will be in good shape,” he said.
He added that if you need anything, including groceries or gas in your car, to get out before the storm hits. “There’s no need to be out there during the storm,” he said.
